Rising Doves

My name is Bethany Gallant and I live in Belleair, Florida.  I started stitching in 1984 and my first sampler was you guess it, a Scarlet Letter sampler.  It was Dora Sanger 1819 and I stitched this for my mother, who was and is, my inspiration.  We both stitch reprodutions and I look forward to visiting her at least twice a year, so we can sit side by side and stitch until our hearts are content.  While visiting my mother, this year, one of her good stitching buddies told me about Nicola's Blog and I just had to have a look.  To my surprise, or should I say, I am not surprise....... There were many others who love reproducing Marsha's samplers.  I must say, what a great selection we have to choose from.

I just finished stitching The Country Life sampler, by SL and it is now at the framers.  I imediately started Rising Doves, so her she is.

If any of you would like to see my samplers as well as my mother's samplers, you can go to my photobucket and view.  Mom's samplers are in a separate album on the left hand side.  As you can see, we both have completed many Scarlet Letter Samplers, as well as a view others.  I hope you enjoy and I look forward to sharing Nicola's wonderful idea of sharing our love of samplers.
Happy Stitching,
Bethany

A very warm welcome Bethany. Rising Doves is going straight on my "to stitch" list. I cannot believe that I missed this one on my numerous visits to the online catalogue.

Welcome Bethany! What a beautiful sampler you are stitching! This will have to definitely be added to my "to stitch" list as well. I have been admiring " The Piping Shepherd " sampler and this might make a good companion for him...LOL...

Bethany,

Wow, you and your Mom have stitched such incredible samplers. You are an inspiration, especially since I see one or two of my WIPs in your finishes. Thank you for sharing the link to your photo album. I can't wait to see more of Rising Doves.

Oh, and for me the best thing about Rising Doves is her racy cleavage. Ooh la la!

What a pretty new start! This one is so very different and I don't remember ever seeing her. Are you doing it all in petit point as it is charted?

WOW!! What an inspiration! I loved browsing your photobucket samplers. I have Rising Doves in my collection of SL's to do. I have to ask- Is that real hair on Polly Phillips?? You obviously recharted the face to make it look so real, but it looks like she has real hair. Beautiful! I have pulled out my Polly Phillips to stitch on in March since yours is such an inspiration.

Thanks for the great welcome ladies. There were a few questions asked, so I will post the answers here. Krista asked about how I am stitching RD's and yes, I am doing it continental, except around each flower, bird, sun, lady and so on. These, I am outlining in cross stitch, to make them pop. Rebecca asked about Polly Phillip and yes, I stitched her hair, with real hair. A little girl came into my mother's hair salon to get her first hair cut and mom asked if she could have some of her beautiful hair. Mom and I have saved it, for just the right samplers. I have used it twice, on PP and Love and Beauty, the cupid in the center has real hair. Mom's sampler Phebe Edwards sampler, the man has real hair as well. That's about it for now.

Hi, Bethany -
I commented on your post yesterday, but am back to add to what I said then. I was touched to read of your shared interest in samplers with your mother...well, your mother emailed me this morning so I now realize that you are JoAnn's daughter!

I am in WRSG with your mom, and just adore her. I think I have met you briefly when you came to Guild once...maybe when that woman from Germany spoke...I can't remember for sure.

Anyway I had to let you know of this small world coincidence. I was trying to recruit your mom into this SAL, but she is dedicated to her current project.

Take care,

Bobbi
