Manifesto

This is my first post on the blog for Manifesto. (Hope I'm doing it right!) I started on March 14 using Q-snaps because my Millenium Frame had not yet arrived in Canada. I was very happy on March 20 when I was able to mount it on the frame. I was hoping to have completely finished page 1 and most of page 8 by April 14 but it is not to be. I am using platinum Belfast with DMC. Because my frame has 30 inch rods, I have mounted Manifesto sideways to accomodate the fabric size (28 inches wide x 46 inches long). Very much enjoying the stitch and seeing everyone's progress on their projects. Love the Millenium Frame, too. Hope my picture is not too big (or small?) I guess I'm a Scarlet Letter addict now as I just ordered THE HUNTSMAN. Thanks for reading!

What beautiful stitching! You have made good progress and it looks great! What count is your linen? I too am waiting for my Millennium frame and stand, and won't begin Manifesto until it arrives. With working with such as large piece,I have ordered the 36 inch scroll rods to hopefully make things easier.
Hope you get lots of stitching time,so you can finish your first page.

So BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I have Hanna Carter waiting for me after I am finished with The Huntsman, then I will be ordering Manifesto! The colors are so pretty! I am hoping for a millennium frame for my anniversary as I have left enough hints :) lol

Thank you for your comments. Serena, Belfast is 32 count. I am using 2 strands over two to make the colours pop. You will love your frame. Hope you get it soon. Sabrina, you and I have the same likes. Hannah Carter is also on my list! Drop lots and lots of hints for the frame. It worked for me on my birthday!

Patricia and Sabrina, hinting for the frame and stand is quite a popular hint. Hopefully mine arrives for my special day in fifteen days! My campaign started before Christmas, lol! Also, thanks for sharing your stitching info Patrica, I was wondering how many threads you used. Although, I am going to use 40ct cream Newcastle linen with DMC threads. I believe it is advised to use one thread over two, but I think some stitchers use two threads of DMC and one thread when using silk on 40ct.

Wonderful progress and I am so pleased you are enjoying your frame. SL charts are VERY addictive.

Patricia I am waiting on my Mellenium frame with 30" rods also. If you put it on sideways, you are still stitching right side up, right? I hope to order the 36" rods next month, so maybe I will wait until then to start my Manifesto. Seems as if there is a run on stitching Manifesto. I think I have counted at least seven or eight of us that will be stitching it! It wil be great fun to watch everyone's progress. I am going to stitch mine in silk, although I have to buy the silk a little at a time! Marsha did talk me into a hank of the blue for the sky at the top left corner. I think that was a good suggestion. Your stitching is beautiful, keep up your beautiful work! Kay Lynn

Hi Kay Lynn! Sorry I just saw your comment - only 3 days late. Mounting Manifesto (381 Length x 600 Width) sideways with the fabric length of the design anchored on the rods means you have to turn your pattern sideways as well. The 44" width of the fabric is rolled around the rods. The 30" rods could have taken the length of the design but the fabric was butted right up against the end so I have two inch margins on each side (actually the top and bottom of the design) rather than my preferred three inches. I am using 32 count Belfast. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Patricia, thanks for answering the Manifesto questions, it is a big project to start. It has been a almost a month since purchasing The MF and the order has yet to be packaged and shipped. Therefore I have started Manifesto with Q Snaps, until NN can catch up with their orders and send mine. Silkstitcher, you may be in for quite a wait for your rods. I don't know how long it will take for my order to get to B.C. Canada?Patricia, how long did the order take to be shipped to you?

Hi Serena! I started mine with Qsnaps as well while waiting for the frame. My DH ordered it on February 27 for my birthday and I picked it up in Kelowna, BC on March 20. We emailed NN about March 13 to see if it had been sent yet. They replied with a FedEx tracking number. It left England on March 14, went to Tennessee and arrived at Customs in Vancouver on March 18. Customs phoned and I had to pay the taxes by credit card before they released it. We drove to Kelowna on the 20th because it was going to take another two days to get to our town by Canada Post. Sorry for such a long reply. Hope it helps. Where in BC are you?

Patrica, thanks for the detailed message. Sounds like once it is shipped it does not take very long to arrive. NN is swamped right now with orders, patience is needed so for now I am happy to make a start with Qsnaps. I'm in Kamloops, I should be working on Ann Grimshaw...but have been working on the prework for an upcoming retreat. The plan is to work on Manifesto one day a week.

Serena, we're almost neighbours. I'm just outside of Vernon in Lumby. Feel free to contact me privately. Are you using DMC with Manifesto on 40 count? One or two threads? I like 40 count but considering my age, I figured my eyesight will give out before Manifesto is finished so I that's why I'm using Belfast. LOL
