Hi friends. I'm very pleased to be able to share with you my completed Ideal Landscape!
This piece was begun back in the early 90s. It was about 80% completed back then and dated in the upper right corner--at one time I was pretty confident I would complete it in 1992. But my best intentions got derailed by a move, caring for elderly relatives, job changes, and a shift into quilting.
You know what they say about the road to hell being paved by good intentions...this piece sat
wadded folded in my sewing cabinet for 21 years.
Within the last year, several friends who were busily stitching on their own pieces inspired me to resurrect the Ideal Landscape and finish it up. A couple impromptu alterations had to happen--for one thing, my 60+ year old eyes are just no longer capable of puzzling out the queen stitch. The shaded blue triangle in the upper right is just straight cross stitch, and I marvel that I was ever capable of that devilish queen stitch. But there's the proof--the corresponding shaded blue area on the left side is perfectly executed queen stitch, done with no magnification, I might add! Life goes on...
Lynn's in Madison, Wisconsin did the beautiful framing job.
My thanks to my stitching friends Renee (flyawayjil) and Deb (debjabo) for getting me back on track with my stitchery. And also--thanks to Nicola's Scarlet Letter and to all of you for further inspiration. Happy 2014 to all.
