Bhooma, thanks for posting the closeup of the band - I checked out the picture on SL's website ... stick with it and give it a try. I emailed you directly on your gmail address with suggestions... don't hesitate to contact me directly if you are stuck... perhaps select one smaller motif in the entire band and start working that motif in trellis stitch - once you get the hang of it you can then decide if you want to do the entire band in trellis stitch or if you want to do a combination of trellis and satin... hang in and give it a try... it is not so difficult. Let me know if you got my email suggestions. The texture of a trellis stich area is quite different to satin stich - try it ...
Just looked at the band again - perhaps start with the central part of the iris looking flower... the shape is even/ a bit octagonal... and there is not much to rip out if you need to - keep trying - I am confident you'll get it!
Thank you so much for your encouragement and help, Nupur. I am going to continue with the trellis stitch.
You can do it! :)
I know you can do it Bhooma.Try these tips here: http://www.needlenthread.com/2008/08/video-tutorial-trellis-stitch.html
Bhooma,Just sent you another email after you sent me a picture of your progress with some hints and suggestions... you are making good progress - like I said last night - hang in and remember what my father likes to say : Rome was not built in a day... you are making good progress in the right direction already...
http://www.needlenthread.com/2008/08/video-tutorial-trellis-stitch.html Here is a good tutorial for the trellis stitch. I hope this helps.....
Glad that my emails and tips helped... the link that I sent you and I see Bethany also referred to here is a start... Mary does a good job ... and then there are the finer points - glad you understood what I was trying to convey and that it made a difference ...keep at it...
Nupur, thanks your help in my attempts to tacklie this stitch. I think I now have a handle on this stitch. It is slow going but I will use this stitch and finish the sampler when I can.
This is beautiful..........good luck with this band!
Stitching should be enjoyable - go with what you are comfortable with Bhooma.
The finished project will be remarkable either way. Good luck. I too am sure you can do it. And thank you to everyone who has posted advice in the comments.
