Jean Scrimgeowr is My New Best Friend

I love this piece.  There are so many little oddities and I'm barely into the first band!  The border isn't square across the top...yes, I had to frog a little.   Each repeat of the motif is raised by one stitch.  Notice the space between it and the red backstitch inner border from left to right.
The vine in the first band is done in two different, but barely discernable, greens.  And both dogs (one in lower right and lower left of the first band) are two toned.  I wonder if they were pets.

Your stitching is exquisite Tommye. It would be nice to think that Jean immortalised her dogs.

Jean is looking beautiful so far Tommye. I love all the little oddities in reproduction samplers, they are so endearing...unless I have to frog a lot and then they become endearing when it is finished :)Happy Stitching!

Beautiful stitching Tommye! I like all the character in the samplers as well ... gives them their 'personality'!
Enjoy ... I will look forward to more progress pictures on this sampler!

I love the way to explained looking at the border, you really notice the change in the band. I have never stitched a sampler that did this.

So beautiful Tommye, and an interesting border for sure. I might think my eyes were crossed with the change of one or two threads - lol. Love those little dogs.

I loved this one but framing is a challenge because she does the same on the lower border also, and I think that the right border goes out also. It is definitely not square and watch out on the double running band, the stitches are not the same number in each division, as well as the flowers change frequently.... The over one goes quickly as the two vertical threads make for easy going....

Thanks for the tips, carolm. I have not looked far enough ahead to notice those things. I didn't even know there was an over one section! LOL

I'm definitely not taking anything for granted. The sections of the vine are not equal numbers either. Same is true for the leaves! Either this girl was very young or was just making everything fit.

Just beautiful. Great progress. Yes, this does look like you will have to pay a lot of attention to. I know it will be well worth it. Enjoy!!

Just received my order from SL and this is one of the charts I ordered -- I had completely forgotten that this was one of them - lol. So many samplers....

I'll be watching your progress carefully - I think that Jean needs to come to my house so that Janet Burnet doesn't get lonesome - but it's going to be a while before Janet's far enough stitched to need company LOL Seriously, I do love what I see of Jean S. and I think I'll need to order her this month ....

Tommye, another beautiful sampler. Those irregular borders do keep you alert, just when you think you have the stitching rhythm it changes on you. I look forward to seeing your posts.
